Cedar Creek standout Bermudez commits to Cincinnati | High School Live

The Bearcats are 10-0 this year under coach Luke Fickell, who took over the program after the 2016 season. Cincinnati went 4-8 in Fickell’s first season in 2017. Since then, the Bearcats 41-6.

“They have a very good coach there,” Bermudez said. “I like what they are doing with the program.”

Bermudez has 66 receptions for 1,273 yards and 11 touchdowns (14 total scores) this season. The senior is second all-time in South Jersey in career receptions and third in receiving yards.

Bermudez was a first-team Press All-Star in 2019 and 2020.

“I’m just looking forward to playing early, winning football games and winning a championship (in Cincinnati),” Bermudez said.

Cedar Creek coach James Melody described Bermudez as a competitor and an all-around athlete.

“I’ve always said that about him,” added the second-year coach.

Bermudez is also a standout defensive back and a member of Cedar Creek’s special team. Cincinnati plans to use him on offense, Bermudez said. But the Bearcats could put it anywhere, if needed, Melody said.

“It’s a great program, and it really suits her,” Melody said. “He got to know the coaching staff very quickly. There are so many good things about this program, and it’s a great situation for JoJo.
